Inspiring Dog Owners

On Wednesday a man I will call Tom came in my drive in a long white van.
He wanted me to trim his Kelpies nails.
Tom was in a wheelchair so I came down to him as we have a rugged path up to our house.
Tom was very concerned about his dogs welfare as she was his only companion.
He lived in the country, on a hillside, in a garage in the bush on his own.
It might sound harsh to us but he loved it.
Tom was interested in a wide range of topics and we spent the rest of the morning disscussing life, the environment and how his life had changed since his accident 25 years ago.
Tom's dog was central to his life and I learnt alot about resilience talking to him.
The next day I meet a young woman I will call Cathy.
She brought me her 55kg black Labrador to groom as best I could.
I used my deshedding tools and removed massesof loose coat.
We tried to get the dog into the bath but he was not interested and because he was so heavy we thought we would try again another time.
While I was liberally spraying and rubbing spritz into the dogs coat Cathy and I started talking.
I was inspired by her love of life and wisdom as she described her young husband dying suddenly, leaving her with three small children.
I was humbled by the way she meet her second husband who was also in a wheelchair and how they had made a new life together.
Although I had offered these people a free service,Puppy I know I recieved something special from  them.
